Day 58: Assorted Ranma 1/2 comics

Another eternal love triangle I am now totally sick of. I picked out these comics because I thought the covers were pretty.

Day 57: Print of Misao from Rurouni Kenshin

My favorite character from Rurouni Kenshin, Misao the ninja girl. I even cosplayed as her one year at Sakura Con. It was the best out of all my costumes - I have made some convincing looking kunai to wield for photos.

Day 56: Swing Kids soundtrack

In high school I was only ever passionate about two things: anime and swing dancing. I used to take lessons with my best friend (who is still dear to me now!) and we would practice in our high school whenever we had a few minutes to kill. She was kind enough to dance as the lead. I looked through my senior year book recently and was surprised by how many people mentioned it as one of their strongest memories of me. It shouldn't have surprised me though. High school was difficult and Sil, swing dancing, and discovering my inner anime nerd make up most of my good memories from those years.

Day 54: Beading/Weaving Loom

My dad made this for me. It's a little dusty but still in great condition. Great for making bracelets or other small crafty projects.

Day 53: Shells from Japan

These shells were brought back from the fishing village my sister and I stayed in when we visited Japan. The colorful ones are abalone shells and the white ones were described as "Tako Shells." I've never heard of an octopus that has a shell so I'm not sure what kind of shell they actually are but they're absolutely beautiful in person. The shell is so thin it's translucent. There are four or five abalone shells and two Tako shells.

Day 52: Archie comics

Another find from my parents' house. The entire stack was gifted to us by family friends whose children had outgrown them. I loved them a a kid but as an adult I have no patience for the never-ending love triangle.

Day 50: Deluxe Edition of Monopoly

I'm trying to be strict with myself throughout this process but one bit of leeway I'm allowing is posting belongings that I left at my parents house. There isn't that much but I'm sure my parents are happy to have the extra space. I have a difficult time getting rid of board games, as evidenced by my possession of a copy of Monopoly. I would be happy if I never play Monopoly again.

I received this copy for Christmas when I was fourteen years old. I will never forget it because the year before was the year I turned thirteen and, being the oldest cousin, all my relatives guessed that perhaps this was the year they should start getting me more grown up gifts. I received some brightly colored socks, a sewing kit, and a book on saints. My slightly younger male cousin was given a copy of Talking Battleship. I wanted Battleship too and I was so upset that I burst in to tears.

The next year I received two copies of Monopoly for Christmas.

Day 49: Black As He's Painted by Ngaio Marsh

I love mystery novels but I'm pretty particular about the ones I read. I discovered this author at a yard sale. I asked the little old lady selling her mystery novels to recommend some titles for a Dorothy Sayers fan and she immediately suggested Ngaio Marsh. She's a great storyteller and suits my taste but it can be a little jarring reading older novels that have somewhat racially diverse cast of characters.

Day 49: Bear Stamp

A really cute stamp of the head of bear! It is reminiscent of the bear head at the top of the stamp.

Day 48: NY Times Crosswords from 2004

My first job out of college was as a receptionist for a vacation home rental company. They were super sketchy (ask me about it sometime) and it was very short-lived. While I was there I discovered that one of our tenants had stacks of The NY Times that just piled up and never got read. I decided she would never miss the crosswords so I starting clipping them. I never did get around to actually doing them.

Day 45: Santa Ornament

He was attached to a mini bottle of tequila I won in our family gift auction. I don't decorate a tree so I don't have much use for him.

Day 44: Hairbrush

I hate this style of hairbrush, it makes me feel icky the same way velvet does. I think I've used it about three times.

Day 41: Nintendo RF Adaptor

I sold the Nintendo at the community yard sale last year and only realized later that I had overlooked this crucial part. I posted a missed connection on Craigslist in hopes they would see it but unfortunately I never heard from them. I've been feeling guilty ever since but it's time to let go. I wouldn't recognize the buyers anymore if I saw them.

I thought it would be a good idea, and I'm sure it still is, but I won't use it.

Day 38: Murder On The Links - Agatha Christie

I'm a big fan of Agatha Christie. I tried to read all of her books one summer and managed to read about 32. I don't want to be in the habit of collecting her books though; it would take up too much shelf space.

Someone please take this off our hands! Belongs to my sister, never been bobbled.

Day 37: Blue Monday: The Kids Are Alright

This is a really cute comic book series about high school life by Chynna Chugston-Major. The series is heavily inspired by the author's love for everything punk, ska, Japanese, Irish, mod, and Adam Ant. I'm pretty sure this mini-series is about the main character Bleu Finnegan trying to get tickets to an Adam Ant concert, against the wishes of her parents and teachers.

I don't think I've ever replayed an RPG so it doesn't make sense to keep this around.

Great for holding stuff! It's about 6-7 inches long by 4-5 inches wide but I'll measure it if anyone really wants to know.

Day 32: Scarf

I picked up this scarf after Festivus a few years ago because I thought I knew who the owner was. I've been hanging on to it far too long. If the owner is reading this, let me know and I'll cancel any other dibs.
